1st Eddie Hanafin (12), Pat Leahy (12) – 46pts.

2nd  George Nash (12), Patsy Murphy (15) – 44pts.

 

First Round of the Spring League starts on Sun 21st Feb (timesheet applies). League format: 2 person teams with the best card from each team to count each Sunday. Each Sunday of the league will incorporate a separate 18 hole singles Stableford competition. Individuals not playing in the league can enter the singles Stableford on the timesheet as normal.

Suggestions Invited for Upgrading the Clubhouse

The recent AGM decided not to proceed with construction of a new clubhouse at present. However some members expressed the view that the facilities at the existing clubhouse should be upgraded. A sub-committee has now been formed to listen to suggestions and come up with recommendations for Management. Any member who wishes to have an input can do so by putting a note in the suggestion box, by e.mailing the club at info@castlegregorygolflinks.com or by contacting John Courtney (086-8500796). All constructive suggestions will be discussed by the sub-committee.

The closing date for receipt of suggestions is 6th March 2010.

Images from the 2010 Captains' Drive In


Style and elegance were everywhere at the 2010 Captains' Drive In. This is personified in this wonderful study by our resident photographer Sean Barry. Entitled simply 'Castlegregory Captains' the image personifies all that is good about our club. Our current Lady Captain Liz is joined by our 2009 Lady Captain Sandra at the clubhouse reception following the Drive In and scramble. All enquiries to Sean Barry who took many excellent photos at the Drive In. Sean tried to take a similar photo of Captain Joe and the 2009 Captain, but it just didn't work.

Nobody felt the cold as Lady Captain Liz entertained a captive audience at the Drive In with her latest recitation. She promised that in 2010 her drives would be longer than her recitations and that she would sing at every social gathering.

Cleaning consultant and Vice Captain Sean Adare directs operations as hoover executive Mike burrows under the table in a massive clean up after the Captains' Drive In in the clubhouse. No chair was left unturned as every crumb from the Captains' table was hoovered up. "A clean club is a happy club"...Sean said.

Results Week Ending 31.01.2010

The fastest golfing postman west of Tralee, Mike Burrows, combined well with our two Captains Liz and Joe to bring in a massive 84 points to win Sunday’s rumble. Mike had to work hard to keep the Captains in check as they were hell bent on whacking every drive out of sight. Mike said that they appeared to be in training for some forthcoming long driving competition. The Limerick O’Connor Earlie gang forced John Rowan to replace the unavailable Noel Earlie on their team and under protest he helped them to shoot 80 for second. A rag baggle (is that a word?) array of former captains came in third despite the Welsh and Cork members insisting that Frankie use red tees all the time.
