Last 18 hole competition of 2008 Club Sponsored will be held Fri

31 Oct & Sun 2 Nov Entry €5.00

Thereafter there will be weekly 13 hole competitions. Cost €4.00.

Club Champions 2008

Club Singles Champion Joe Mulcahy receiving his prize from Captain Mike at the recent prize giving in Ashes, Camp. Earlier in the year Joe was also crowned Spring League Champion and just recently he clinched the 2008 Golfer of the Year title.

Joe Mulcahy, Mens Club Hon Secretary and Vice Captain elect.....a true champion and simply the best.

Mighty Mixed Foursomes Champions Mike Williams and Merlyn O'Connor present the prizes to themselves at the recent prize giving in Ashes, Camp. Ashes was rife with rumours of a split in this pairing for next year's Foursomes with new partnership contracts apparently already signed in Adare. When asked about this, Captain Mike mentioned something about "being open to offers for next year"

Club Fourball champions Seamus Browne and Ken Ryan receive their prize from Captain Mike at the recent prize giving in Ashes, Camp. The lads also agreed to model some items from their new Ken n Seamie 'Bright and Shocking' golf shirt range.

Results Week Ending 26th October

Ladies Club

There was a very exciting and dramatic finale to the Ladies Golfer of the Year competition for the new Mary Munnelly Memorial Trophy, kindly sponsored by Pat Prendeville. Coming into the final qualifying competition Captain Merlyn O’Connor led the table with 43 pts from Edel Randles on 42 with Marian Kennedy a further 5 pts back. On the final weekend the weather put paid to the Captain’s chances on the Sunday, while playing on Friday, Marian and Edel picked up 15 and 10 pts respectively for their second and third finishes. This meant that Marian and Edel were tied at the top on 52 pts. Nothing for it but a playoff over 18 holes to decide the winner! The playoff proved to be thriller with the scores level on the 18^th tee. Edel had an excellent par on the last but Marian holed out for a birdie to become the first ever holder of the Mary Munnelly Trophy.

Marian Kennedy and Edel Randles ended up level at the top of the Golfer of the Year Table after the final competition. Marian and Edel will do battle over 18 holes stroke during the week to see who will take the Mary Munnelly Memorial Trophy, sponsored by Pat Prendeville, as Golfer of the Year for 2008.
