The beautiful Martin and Teresa Rice celebrating their two President's Prize wins in Tomasins. Teresa won Lady President Joan Ferriter's prize on Sunday 20th July. In her acceptance speech she challenged husband Martin to step up to the plate in President Ger Callanan's prize the following Sunday. As usual Martin did as he was told and took Ger's prize in great style. What a stylish couple they make! Although he was unable to attend the prize presentation, both paid tribute to their coach Bob Rotella.

Castlegregory Captains’ agree to opening ceremony of Beijing Olympics

In the spirit of true sportsmanship, it has just been announced that Lady Captain Merlyn & Captain Mike have finally reached agreement with the International Olympic Committee & the Chinese Government, to allow the opening ceremony of the Beijing Olympics on the same night as their Captains’ Party i.e. Friday 08/08/08.

It can be confirmed that both the President of the IOC (Jacques Rogge) and the Chinese Premier (Wen Jiabao) have welcomed this wonderful news as it was in doubt up to today

In a joint press release they have paid tribute to the generosity of both Captains.

Captain Mike has also confirmed that the Welsh National Eistedfodd can go ahead during that week.

Lady Captain Merlyn was quoted as saying “ Now that Sean and myself are unable to compete in the mixed synchronised swimming in Beijing (due to his unfortunate urine sample debacle) we felt that the Olympics could go ahead anyway – especially since it would be a different crowd going to both events ”
