Results Week Ending 26th August
and Men's competitions. The dazzling Sean O'Connor-Adare got in some
shooting practice for next Sunday's hurling final by teaming up with Donal
O'Donnell to hit a blistering 44 points to win the Joe McCarthy sponsored
Hot August Fourball. It really was hot stuff as they had only one point to
spare the very experienced Brian Byrne / Jim Ryall combination. The Limerick
boys are obviously highly motivated and shooting on all cylinders. In the
Ladies competition, and not to be out done by their men folk, Mary Rose
Binchy and Merlyn O'Connor-Adare had an exciting duel to decide the top
places in the Kerry Group sponsored singles stroke. In the end Mary Rose had
three shots to spare over Merlyn with Marian Kennedy just losing out on the
count back for second.
In an exciting Juvenile Shield final over nine holes on Friday, young Robert
O'Shea - expertly coached by his Dad Tadgh- hit a very good 19 points,
including a birdie on the 3rd, to win from the impressive Eoin O'Donnell.
Cormac Nyhan and Aidan Lee played steadily to fill 3rd and 4th spots. The
Juvenile Shield final was sponsored by club stalwart Eddie Hanafin and
organised very efficiently by Fergus Moroney. As well as the lovely prizes
for the first four, all 15 participants received a memento of the
competition. Thanks to Fergus for his work with the juveniles and to Eddie
for his kind sponsorship of the event.
Next weekend we are all looking forward to our exchange day with Beaufort on
Sunday 2nd Sept. The format for both Ladies and Men's competitions is
Singles Stableford with a mixed timesheet in operation from 7 a.m. to 9.30
a.m. - playing in fourballs. Special thanks to Beaufort Captain Philip
O'Neill - we hope all our Beaufort friends enjoy their day in Castlegregory.

Founder's Cup
Our dynamic 2006 Captain and professional Munster rugby supporter, Mike Keane, took the Founder's Cup over the weekend with an excellent 42 points - a score that the Munster boys would be happy with any day. Mike recently wondered why the John Rowan syndrome hadn't affected him - John lowered his handicap by at least four shots in the year following his Captain's year. You are well on your way now Mike, and the year isn't over yet. Mike was followed home by the improving Neil Moynihan - Neil recently got some expert advice on his putting and it seems to have worked! The ever consistent Tom Moriarty shot an excellent 39 for third.
In the Ladies section, both Sandra Nyhan and Marian Kennedy shot very good 37s with Sandra taking Patsy Murphy's fine pottery prize on the count back. The 'also very consistent' Teresa Rice hit 34 points for third.
