Castlegregory Advance in Munster Country Clubs

Our Munster Country Clubs team recorded two great victories on Saturday last in Ballyheigue. In the first round in the morning we proved too strong for Abbeyfeale, winning by 5 matches to 2. This set up an intriguing clash with home club Ballyheigue in the second round in the afternoon. Despite playing two matches on the same day, Ballyheigue having received a bye in round one, our overall strength proved decisive in the end. Final result: Castlegregory 5, Ballyheigue 2.
 
We are now into the quarter finals of this competition and await the winners of Ardfert and Spanish Point.
 
Well done to team Manager Mike Burrows and team Captain Joe Mulcahy.
 
The team that defeated Abbeyfeale and Ballyheigue was:

Ladies Intermediate Cup

Castlegregory Intermediate Ladies were narrowly defeated by Ardfert in the third round of the AA Intermediate Cup in Lackabane on Saturday last. The overall result was in the balance for a long way with Ardfert edging it by 3 matches to 2 in the end - the deciding matches going all the way to the final holes. Well done to team manager Merlyn and all team members on another fighting display. Thanks to all who helped and supported the team. The Club is proud of you all.

Castlegregory Ladies Inter Club Update

AA Junior Foursomes
Team Manager Marie McCarthy
Team Members:- Tina Moriarty & Sandra Nyhan, Edel Randles & Goretti O'Connor, Lori Fitzgerald & Teresa Rice.
Round one - leg one was played away in Ross  - and  we won 1.5 out of 3  matches. Round one - leg two  was played at home on Tuesday 17 April and we won two
of the three matches on the day.  Well done to all.   Next round on Sat 12 May at Castlerosse where we will be playing the winners of Kanturk and Killorglin.

Ladies Win 2nd Round of AA Intermediate Cup

Castlegregory Intermediate Ladies had a stirring victory over neighbours Ceann Sibeal in Round 2 of the AA Cup at Dooks today. An early victory in the first match seemed to have set our ladies up for a comfortable win. However Ceann Sibeal fought back tenaciously in the other four matches. All four went to the final hole with two going on to the 19th. However players of the quality of Edel Randles, Teresa Rice, Sandra Nyhan, Marie McCarthy and Merlyn O'Connor know how to win tight matches. Final result: Castlegregory 4, Ceann Sibeal 1.

Mens Champion Spring League Final

The final of the C&C Cleaners (John Carroll) sponsored Spring League was played on Easter Monday. The format was 18 holes stroke for the 15 leading qualifiers from the four qualifying competitions. Vice Captain Michael Williams showed good early season form to claim the Spring League Champion's Medal in a highly competitive play-off over a testing 18 holes.

Change of Date for Men's Munster Country Clubs

Castlegregory v Abbeyfeale on 28th April
 
Castlegregory will play Abbeyfeale in the first round of the Munster Country Clubs on Saturday 28th April in Ballyheigue (9.00 a.m. tee off). Winners play Ballyheigue in the afternoon. The format is singles match play with seven players per team. Individual handicap must not have been lower than 10 during 2006. Members interested in playing should put their names on the team sheet in the club house or contact Michael Burrows (Team Manager).
