Castlegregory v Kenmare

Having been involved in the wonderful victory over Ardfert in the Kerry Nines Final in Castlerosse on Friday and more especially in the post match celebrations (some were even heard singing after midnight !! while others were partying again on Saturday night !?!?) our junior foursomes team looked remarkably fresh on Sunday, in Killorglin against Kenmare GC.

In fact such was the level of performance, one would have to ask about all these fancy modern theories of team preparation & instead just have a good party before a match !!

Match 1 - Teresa Rice & Liz O' Carroll - were never led from start to finish. Turning 1up, they held the lead to finish on the 17th green with a great par. 3 & 1

Match 2 - Lady Captain Merlyn O'Connor & Marie McCarthy - in a very close ding-dong match, led until the turn and then went 2 down before coming back to level, went one down again but came back to level after 16 and were called in. 0.5 - 0.5

Match 3 - (Team manager & Scratch Cup winner) Edel Randles & Mary Sills started off with a win & were never led although playing conservatively. Having turned level, Mary's drive onto the 10th green got them going and they won 5 on the trot & finished on the 15th green - 5 & 3

Great win - (2.5 / 0.5) with some wonderful golf. Next round will be against Killarney on w/end of 24/25 May in Castleisalnd. Date & time to be confirmed.
